Page Curl Effect
Today you’ll see how to make page curl effect. I will do that on a photo, but you could do the same for web graphics or anything else. So, let’s start with a New document, any size, for example 800 x 600 pixels.
STEP ONE
Open a photo, below is the photo I will use in this tutorial.
STEP TWO
Select the Polygon Lasso tool (or hit L) and make a selection like I did on the image below. After you made the selection, right click on the triangle (or rectangle if you selected a rectangle) selection and go to Edit -> Cut.
STEP THREE
Now, select the Rectangle tool (or hit U) and make a rectangle, like it’s shown on the image below.
STEP FOUR
Then select the Subselection tool (or hit A) and make a shape, from that rectangle, similar to the one on the image below. You do that by dragging the rectangle’s points, marked on the image below.
STEP FIVE
Now, select the Ellipse tool (or hit U) and make an ellipse, about 160 pixels of width and 135 of height, any color. Then hide the photo that you’re applying the page curl effect on. You can do that in the Layers panel (hit F2 if you don’t have it opened). First select the photo and then the layer is selected in the Layers panel and click the eye in the left box of the selected layer. After you did that, place the ellipse you made the way it’s placed on the image below.
STEP SIX
Select both shapes, the triangle and the ellipse and go to Modify -> Combine Paths -> Punch. Now, click the eye of the photo layer, so the photo will be visible again.
STEP SEVEN
Select the triangle shape and set the following background - Gradient -> Linear.
STEP EIGHT
Set the background line like it’s shown on the image below and set the marked colors.
STEP NINE
After you did the step eight, select the triangle shape and in the Properties panel go to Effects -> Shadow and Glow -> Drop Shadow and set all values like I did on the image below.
And here’s the final result:
