Take Back Control

There are numerous things that we can do at the individual level to insure that Microsoft does not abuse our rights as consumers. If we do things alone, then it will be a long haul...but, if we come together starting at the grass roots level then things can get done. We as consumers want quality products, and just because Microsoft is a monopoly then we should not be subjected to inferior products ...especially when we are paying top dollar. Here is how you can regain control of your computer and realize digital autonomy:

Drop msn and hotmail as your email hosts. There are so many other free options out there.
Start using non-Microsoft products. There are some great alternatives out there. Alternatives to Microsoft Products is a great place to get options.
Buy a Mac. I own several Windows machines, but I will never purchase another new one. I have recently purchased two new Mac's...they are great computers with an excellent OS. Need to use Windows once in awhile? Then use that old Windows disk on your computer via Boot Camp, Parallels, etc. If you just use Windows for games, then no big deal. Warning: make sure you do not violate any copyright, or end-user agreements. If you get rid of your box that was running Windows OEM software, then merely install it to your Mac. This would be a great class-action suit if Microsoft tries to deny us the right to use our software at home, as we choose...just as long as you do not run it on more than one computer. Apple
Talk about it with your friends. This is a revolution of sorts, and the only way that a movement of any sort can validate its' existence is by spreading the word about what is going on. We have been dupped, and it is time to start taking back control.
Request the powers that be at your place of employment to start looking at alternatives to Windows. There are some great options at the business level, and you should not feel bound to MS. The only type of business that may not be responsive to a change to a non-Windows platform are those businesses that program Windows software. Alternatives to Microsoft Products
Inform Microsoft that you are not happy and tell them what you are doing. If they do not know, then you loose your persuasive powers.
